Father's Day 2010

Father's Day 2010 was a great day for our little family. We really got to enjoy each other and relax. Ryan loves his daddy! He is actually a big fan of both his parents, but there are times that he prefers one of us over the other. Daddy is always ready to have fun and Ryan loves it.

I knew from pretty much the first month we dated that Nicholas would be a good dad. He is always patient and remains calm in every situation. But, I underestimated Nicholas because he has exceeded my expectations. From the moment Ryan was born (and before), Nicholas could not have been prouder to be Ryan's daddy. Nicholas helped me so much when Ryan was brand new and did not sleep much. He supported me through breastfeeding, which caused many emotional breakdowns. Nicholas has troubleshooted many situations when I was a complete wreck! And, now that we are through all the newborn stuff, he is still the best dad and helps me some much with feeding time, baths and all the rest. Ryan and I are very blessed to have Nicholas in our life.

Here are a few pictures of Father's Day. Ryan and I made his Daddy homeade blueberry muffins for breakfast before we took him to the pool to hang out for the afternoon. To end the day, Ryan wanted to take his Daddy to Outback for a steak dinner. We literally had to swallow our food whole because our little man was ready to be in bed.

We hope that everyone enjoyed their Father's Day! I missed my own Dad, but I was so glad to have Nicholas to celebrate this year!

Lucky #7

Ryan is 7 months old as of yesterday! We can hardly believe that it has been 7 months since he was born!  He has changed so much and is such a busy little boy. We cannot put anything near him that we do not want him to grab. Ryan is sitting up and will be crawling soon. He loves being able to sit up and play with toys that light up or make noise!

We celebrated Ryan's 7 month birthday at the Hedgerow pool. It was so hot and we needed to cool off after we finished most of the household chores. Ryan really enjoyed it, except for when Mrs. Collette dipped his head in the water. He was not a fan and would not even look at her for the rest of the day! And, we would like to send a big thank you to the Christensens' in Virginia for sending Ryan the cute bathing suit and protective shirt to use this summer.

Ryan ended the day with a dinner of carrots and apples, as well as playing with Maggie on the floor. Maggie is good with Ryan as long as he does not pull her tail and she can get away from him when ready. I wonder what she will do when he starts to crawl after her!

I keep telling Nick that Maggie will really love Ryan when he can throw a ball! They will be best buds!

We are looking forward to a great week, especially Father's Day!

Rolling, rolling, rolling...

Keep this buggy rolling!

Look who is able to sit up in a shopping cart!!

Mommy and baby are both happy that Ryan can ride in the cart! He is able to see more and I can fit far more groceries in the cart.

Beach or Bust!

On Memorial Day weekend, we took Ryan to the beach for the first time. Mimi has a condo at Surfside Beach (near Myrtle Beach) and we were glad to finally get to visit it. It was a great weekend. Ryan was not too sure about the sand or ocean when we first introduced him to it. By the third day, Ryan did not seem to mind the ocean. However, Ryan loved the pool from the first day! It took him a few minutes to get used to it, but he loved it. Here are a few pictures of Ryan at the ocean and the pool.

While at the beach, Ryan tried bananas and peas for the first time. He loves bananas, but he just likes peas! We decided to give him jars of baby food while at the beach, just to make it easier and lessen the amount of cargo. Ryan did not seem to mind; however, he does seem to enjoy homeade bananas and peas better than the ones in the jar.

We did not spend all our time in the water. Of course, Ryan had to eat and nap at regular intervals. We headed out to Pawley's Island one day. This beautiful island is on my lists of places that I would love to live at some point in my life. We want to take Maggie the next time, so she can go play on the beach! We love dog friendly places and we think she would have a ball at the ocean! Nick and I went out on the beach while Ryan napped in the car with Mimi. Also, we stopped by Lollipop Junction to see what type of cute beach attire they might have for Ryan. We bought him an infant hat with a crab on it! He looks too cute in it.

My hair never blows the right way!

We had a great trip and we are looking forward to our next visit! Of course, Ryan will be going to Treasure Island, Florida over July 4th week! Nick's family goes every year around the same time with a large group of people from Glen Haven! It is lots of fun and we look forward to introducing Ryan to more new friends! I included a few more cute pictures...

So tired from the ocean...Mimi is comfortable!

Ryan's Big Laugh

Ryan's big, happy laugh is the best part of the day! It certainly gave me a lift while dealing with painful kidney stones this week.

This video is from our time at Surfside Beach, South Carolina. Ryan and Daddy were playing on the couch. I will post a blog about our beach time later this weekend. We all had lots of fun!

Happy Birthday to Daddy!

On May 25, Nick celebrated his 29th birthday.  We had the family up for a birthday cookout the weekend before his actual birthday.  Nick and I celebrated with a nice lunch on his birthday, and Ryan gave daddy his present that night when he got home from work.  We were going out to a nice dinner, but since it was later in the evening we opted for Chick-fil-A (one of Nick's faves).

To close out Nick's birthday week and start Memorial Day weekend, we headed to Surfside Beach, SC for some sand, sun and salt!  Beach blog to follow!
