The Arnold family had quite the week. Ryan turned six months on Thursday! He will be one before we know it. Time is going by so fast and he has changed so much. Ryan has the sweetest personality. He makes us laugh and we love when he gives us hugs and kisses. Here are a few pictures from his 6 month birthday!
Before we headed to see Dr. Roe for Ryan's six month appointment, Ryan and I stopped by to visit Marie, Libby and Commissioner. Unfortunately for Ryan and I, Libby stayed asleep during our entire visit at the Gordon home. We were both disappointed. However, we did leave a couple of surprises for Libby for when she woke up. We would have stayed, but Ryan had to be at the doctor by 3pm that afternoon.
Ryan did so well for Dr. Roe at his six month visit. He is growing right on schedule. He said that we could start solid foods and even attempt a sippy cup. Ryan did not even cry when he got his shots. I was shocked. This was our first doctor's visit without Daddy and I was a little worried without Nick to help distract Ryan. However, Ryan was excellent for me.
The only problem that Dr. Roe saw this visit was a click in his hip. The hip click was present at four months, but we were hoping that it would resolve itself by this visit. So, Dr. Roe ordered a hip x-ray for the next day at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta. Thankfully, Dr. Roe called on Friday evening and told us that his hips look normal. That was such a relief!
Friday night was the first time that we have left Ryan since he was born. Nick's employer, Holder Construction, had a cocktail party at Piedmont Driving Club in midtown Atlanta to celebrate their 50th anniversary. It was such a great event. We really enjoyed dressing up and getting out to an event with dancing. It was nice to meet many of the people that Nick works with on a daily and monthly basis (Holder flew in associates from jobsites outside of Atlanta for the event). We missed Ryan, but it was a nice date night for us.
We were tired on Saturday morning, but Ryan was well rested and ready to go. MiMi was here on her way back from the beach, so that gave us a little time to rest. We had to get up and get going anyway. Maggie had to be up early to go to the groomer and Michael, Marie and Libby were dropping off Commissioner to Camp Arnold for the weekend! We love having Commissioner to our house. She is such a sweet little dog and lots of company for Maggie. They really get along well. We have been trying to snap some pictures, but they both move so fast!
Lastly, Ryan had his first vegetable this weekend. After a trip to Trader Joe's to buy a few sweet potatoes and apples to cook for Ryan this week. Nick tried out the Beaba Babycook and made some sweet potatoes for Ryan. We fed them to him on Saturday night for the first time and again this evening. He is doing really well eating them. Ryan's first bite of sweet potatoes was hilarious. He was not sure what the orange stuff was that we were shoving into his mouth! I love to watch the expressions that he makes when you are feeding him. I cannot wait to see how he does with apples. It might be a better first reaction, since they are sweet. Also, we tried the sippy cup. I think that is going to take a little practice, but we are going to keep on working with him on it
We hope everyone had a great weekend!
